    What waterway is that?

    • Mona says:

This is a man-made lake (of sorts). It was built on the bed of the dried up Salt River which runs (ran) through Tempe and South Phoenix. Some people are critical of the money spent “merely” to create a recreational area and magnet for new business, hotels, and condos. I disagree strongly. We have so few places amidst our hot concrete sidewalks and buildings where we can get a small taste of nature.

The theme is “Travel Theme….” but I recently returned from China; therefore, one could say that I traveled back to my adopted home in Arizona. Besides, I traveled from Phoenix to Tempe to take the shot.

I bet it’s a lovely area to walk around. Some people don’t get that you need recreation. Sad, those folks probably have miserable weekends!

  4. Really love the lighting and composition in this photo.

  5. Fantastic idea! I think it is a beautiful photo worthy of displaying at an event such as a state fair. I find the photo to be very intriguing and I feel like the photo teases me a little because I really want to see what the rest of the bridge looks like but then again maybe I don’t. I really do like the way you chose to compose this shot and I hope that if you enter you win!
