Another Moon Shot

O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon,
That monthly changes in her circled orb…
~Juliet: The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Act 2 Scene 2

I was not getting the clear focus / sharp images I had gotten last year and was worried that I’d made a big mistake changing from Nikon to Canon.

However, my photographer son reminded me today that when I have the camera on the tripod, I need to shut off the image stabilization. DUH!

So, image stabilization off… and look at the detail! Ain’t it cool? All right, I’m easily impressed. I think that it’s fantastic that a mid-range lens can capture the craters on the moon. Imagine what the astronomers in the planetariums can see!

This looks so real! Look at the bottom craters, awesome!

  2. i agree with you – just imagine how it looked from the upper parts of earth’s atmosphere! I love seeing it other than full, too. Great shot.
And thanks for the reminder about ‘offing’ image stabilisation. :)

  4. Oh my gosh I love your moon shots :D I think I like these better than the full moon shots, you can see the canyons in the shadows, really great looking :)

I agree with you. I think it has something to do with the sun’s light on the moon. I did not realize this until I started taking moon shots.
