Harvest Moon

Oh, Shine on, shine on, harvest moon
Up in the sky;
I ain’t had no lovin’
Since April, January, June or July.
Snow time ain’t no time to stay
Outdoors and spoon;
So shine on, shine on, harvest moon,
For me and my gal.

“Shine On, Harvest Moon,” 1908 by the married vaudeville team Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth.

Nearly a century later, Neil Young gave us another Harvest Moon love song.

Because I’m still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I’m still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

The Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. Canon 60D, f/9.0, 1/250 sec, 200 mm.

  1. This is a beautiful shot, Mona. And Neil Young’s Harvest Moon was one of my brother’s favorite songs. He passed two years ago. Thanks for the memory. So beautiful.
