Oh I couldn’t pass this one up. When I saw the weekly challenge, I immediately thought of the curves in the Yuyuan Gardens in Shanghai. You see, Shanghai and China have been on my mind a lot lately because I’m flying to Shanghai a week from today to begin my summer job. The Yuyuan Gardens are rich with curves in doorways, walkways, and archways — all inviting the tired traveler to a quiet peace.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Soon my infant granddaughter will be running on these feet!
On May 24, with just a hint of tears welling in my eyes, I carried the last box out of my classroom with the now bare walls and turned in my keys. So far, however, it doesn’t feel like retirement (but what is that supposed to feel like?). It merely seems as if I am on my summer break, and my first week was consumed by work that I’d shoved to the corner in the past year, along with a few delightful days including a wonderful retirement lunch with three friends and babysitting my beautiful granddaughters.
Now, with anticipation and a mountain of apprehension, I concentrate on improving my photography skill and art. I am ready to begin my next career and ramble into the next phase of my life with camera, business cards, and a website: Ramona Howard Photography.
